We had a great success at our ‘Boo to the Flu’ nasal flu event for our eligible 2&3 year olds.
HEALTHY HEART EVENT – OCTOBER
The event invited patients from Church Lane Surgery, although patients from across the PCN were welcome. In total, approximately 43 patients attended. The day was supported by four healthcare professionals, one social prescriber, Park Run volunteers, representatives from Provide and the Freshwell Low Carb Community. Essex Therapy Dogs were also there to help ease anxiety.
The event offered free health checks, blood pressure reviews, weight management advice, and smoking cessation support, targeting those who often find it difficult to attend appointments during the week.
Attendees received comprehensive health checks, personalised advice and early identification of cardiovascular risk factors. Two patients were found to have dangerously high blood pressure and required urgent treatment on the day, highlighting the importance of these accessible community checks. In total, 13 patients were identified with high blood pressure and will need follow-up care, lifestyle support, and possibly medication following blood pressure diaries.
The event was well received by both patients and staff and demonstrated the continued value of community-based initiatives in improving health outcomes for those across the Braintree District.
HEALTHY HEART EVENT HELD ON SATURDAY 30TH AUGUST 2025 10:30-14:30
The above Event was held recently and was a tremendous success. We were able to help and advice patients from our PCN and the feedback from patients has been overwhelmingly positive. There was a real sense of community spirit and above all strong team work and is a powerful example of how collaborative working can improve health outcomes.

We actively encourage patients to attend the event to make the first steps towards a healthy heart!

HEALTHY HEART EVENT SATURDAY 28TH JUNE 2025
What a fantastic turnout for out last Healthy Heart Event. Despite the heat, almost 60 patients from the Braintree PCN joined us for our first-ever cardiovascular event.
A huge congratulations to our Transformation Lead, Lucy, for hosting such an important and successful day. Patients had access to vital health checks, weight loss advice, stop smoking services, and social prescribing advice.
Thank you to our HCAs, Nutritionists, Christchurch Pharmacy, Tesco and The Freshwell Low Carb Community – and to everyone who came along and took steps towards a healthier heart!
